Is the guesthouse smoke free?

Yes, the whole property is smoke free and we would ask our guests to respect this.  If you are a smoker, please use the benches at the front of the hotel and discard your cigarette butts into the planters next to the benches.  Please also breath out several times away from the front door before you enter the building.

Do you serve breakfast?

Yes, we do serve breakfast, but unlike most establishments, we don’t include it the price. So you have a choice. The rooms are advertised as “Room Only” and breakfast would be charged extra.

1) If you want breakfast, no problem, but don’t worry, you don’t have to decide up front and you don’t have to have it every day. On arrival, we will ask you
what you would like and take it from there.
2) If you don’t want breakfast, no problem, enjoy your sleep in, you have not paid for it.

We have done extensive research on this subject and more and more guests don’t actually want breakfast, or don’t want it until later. Comments from guests have been “I only got up for breakfast because I have paid for it” or “I had a big meal last night, so I am not hungry yet”. So we felt it right to give you the choice rather than force you to pay for something that you may or may use.

Having a chat with you on arrival also deals with any special dietary allergies or needs that you may have.

Please contact us if you have any further questions.

Can I park my car?

Yes, it is normally possible for everyone to park their car next to or near to the building.  We have six spaces in front of the building and during the summer months we have street passes.  It all depends on what type of vehicle you turn up in, so discuss with us in advance if you have a large vehicle.

We are happy to park your car for you and if you park it, we will ask you to park it in a certain way so that we maintain a good walkway between the cars for those guests with mobility issues.

Because of the layout of the car park, we have to manage it.  If guests are blocked in we need to be able to let them out, so depending on where you are parked, we may need to take your car keys off you once you have parked up.  Don’t worry, we are insured to move most vehicles and we keep the keys in a “Faraday” box.  Most guests are happy with this as they are not wanting to move their cars anyway.

If you need constant access to your cars (Putting shopping in, retrieving items etc), it may be good to bring a spare set with you.

Working together, we can make everyone’s stay a great one without any unnecessary frustration.

We have parking bollards at the front of the car park to ensure that we can retain the parking spaces for our guests. Once you arrive outside the building, either call us or ring the doorbell and one of us will come out and let you in.

Please contact us if you need further clarification.

Do you accept pets?

Sorry no, my partner has allergies, so no pets allowed.

We have been told that The Travel lodge accept pets.

Are you licenced for Alcohol?

Yes, we are one of only a few guesthouses that are licenced for alcohol.  We do not have a bar as such, but guests often gather in the lounge and we have a good range of drinks available.

If you are celebrating a special occasion, why not ask for a bottle and glasses to be placed in your room for your arrival.  Just get in touch to discuss your requirements.

We want you to have a great stay with us, so talk to us in advance.

Can I bring my mobility scooter?

Yes, you can bring your mobility scooter, but talk to us first so we can advise your further as mobility scooters come in all sorts of shapes and sizes.

Because of the design and age of the building, we are not wheelchair or scooter friendly inside the building, but we will always do our best to assist you with your mobility needs, so it is always a good idea to talk to us first.

We can store very small mobility scooters in the guest lounge and larger scooters can be stored around the side of the property.

The corridors and doorways are designed in such a way that would prevent the scooters from being driven into the rooms.

We will help you with your equipment so don’t worry about you don’t it.

Charging your scooter is also something that we can help you with.

Do you have a lift to the guest bedrooms?

No, we don’t have a lift, but we do have a guest bedroom that is on the ground floor – Room 1.  The beds in this room can be setup as a twin or a super-king.

This room is very popular with guests who have difficulties with mobility.  We also have a small number of additional aids to assist you whilst you are staying with us.

Please contact us to talk abut your own requirements.

Are you close to the town centre and train station?

Yes, we are probably the closest guesthouse to the town centre.

We are approximately 200yds to the Cenotaph on Lord Street and approximately 500yds to Southport train station.

It should take you about 5-7 minutes walk from the station to The Braemar Southport

Can I arrive early and leave my car or my bags?

Yes, of course.  If you are travelling by bus or train, you can always arrive early and leave your bags with us until the room is ready.

If you are travelling by car, it also may be possible to park your car early, but this will depend on how many cars were parked in the car park from the night before. Some guest like to leave early, but we will not know this until your day of arrival.  Normal check out time is 10am, so if you contact us after this time, we will be able to give you a better idea of how many spaces we have available at that time.

It’s always a good idea to talk to us about your travel plans in advance, so that we can assist you.
